Restaurants

Enschede has a lot of nice restaurants in the city centre, most are located at and around the Old Market. Most restaurants have a 'daghap', which is one specific meal that is special for that day and usually a bit cheaper. There are all kinds of restaurants with dishes from all over the world. Of course there are also some nice 'restaurants' for a midnight snack.

Bar, pubs and clubs

A lot of the bars and clubs  in Enschede are located at the Old Market and the streets around this square. When the weather is good, this is also an excellent location to sit outside of one of the bar terraces. There are a lot of pubs, but there are also some bars with a special dance department. Dutch bars and clubs will close at 4 o'clock in the morning. Soon enough you will find out about the Aspen Valley, Rico Latino Salsaclub, Paddy's, Lunatic, Fred & Douwe, Het Bolwerk, Atak and many more...

Cinema

In Enschede there are two cinemas: Cinestar (near the campus) and Cineast (city centre). The movies will not be dubbed, so are spoken in their original language. They do have Dutch subtitles. If you show your studentcard you can get 1 Euro discount from Tuesday to Friday. You can also buy a 5-movie-ticket, which gives you a little discount. This 5-movie-ticket is however personal, so only you can use it.

Concerts & Performances

There are different places in Enschede you can go to for concerts and other performances. In some cases you can get a student discount with your studentcard or the Xtra-Card. Be sure to check out the Muziekkwartier and Atak close to the central train station in Enschede or the Rabotheater close to the central train station in Hengelo.

Pooling

There are different pooling cafes in Enschede. For example The Bridge at the Old Market and the Snooker & Poolcentrum in the Beltstraat, just across from the casino.

Casino

In Enschede there is a Holland Casino. You can find it at the Van Heekplein in the city centre.

Go Planet

Near the campus, Enschede Drienerlo train station and the Grolsch Veste (FC Twente stadium) is the Go Planet area. Here you can find a place for bowling, pooling, kartracing, diving, the ice rink, a concert hall, the Cinestar cinema and quite a few restaurants. Just walk or cycle there and take a look!

Thursday night bus to campus
